A Gift from Bob

A Christmas-themed follow-up to 2016’s successful A Street Cat Named Bob is pressing ahead, with filming set to start in late 2019. Based on the book by former Big Issue seller James Bowen, the first film told the story of how a stray ginger cat changes the life of Bowen (Luke Treadaway), a homeless London street musician and recovering drug addict. It went on to win Best British Film at the UK National Film Awards in 2017.

A Gift From Bob, will be directed by Charles Martin Smith (Dolphin Tale, A Dog’s Way Home), sees Bowen looking back at the last Christmas he and Bob spent scraping a living on the streets and how Bob helped him through tough times by providing strength, friendship and inspiration. A winter production start has been scheduled, in time for a Christmas 2020 release.
